This is what happens when you take a hornets nest that wasn't bothering anyone, kick it and let it free. It's going to be pissed and sting you.

How many were actually committing a crime vs suspected of it. And unless we charge them with something we can't hold them indefinitely.

Too bad they didn't use that indefinite detention without trial that you always rant about Obama signing into law to deflect from anyone criticizing your Dear Leader. That's the only way they could have kept him locked up so he couldn't do anything.

We can hold them indefinitely. Obama the Enchanted One signed indefinite detention into law during his presidency.

too bad you did not look at the dates, he was released 2009, oclueless signed indefinite detention in 2011 .

you should also think about the fact I am AGAINST indefinite detention, those in GITMO should get a TRIAL or let go. difference between most of you and myself is that I don't change because of who is in power.

Or perhaps he was radicalized precisely by being held at Gitmo? I don't know if this guy did what he was originally accused of before being sent to Gitmo, but your article says:

"He was one of six Algerians detained in Bosnia in 2001 on suspicion of plotting to bomb the US embassy in Sarajevo. The US Justice Department later backed off the allegations, but held the men at Guantanamo for several years."

Read the article. I'm pretty sure we were engaged in military operations when when this guy was detained in 2001.

Or you can just keep believing that he was just walking around minding his own business when the US sent him to GITMO. And now the experience has scarred him to the extent that this innocent man has become the very thing that he was accused of being.

We are fighting people, not at war with a government so the definition is hazy. Can we legally declare war on isis.

Trump really should shut down the airlines. They are terrorist support vehicles.

Unfortunately, I think it's been established that the US can fight a war without congress actually declaring one. I think that the service men and women who fought, were injured and lost friends in Afghanistan would definitely say they were in a war.

Well no one is going to want to travel here if he keeps pissing everyone off. Also, with a move to privatize air traffic control, who knows how much the airlines will start bumping up ticket prices ;)

Too bad that Bush hadn't signed that into law then. It might have prevented this, and you probably would have supported it.

Now do you believe that this person should have been released? And if you do then what was the point of the thread?
