    I can feel your conflict.

Here you have Obama doing something you support, yet you can't express that without getting a dig in.

So you criticize the time it took to happen.

All I know is that I'm happy you found your dig, because otherwise the cognitive dissonance would have probably been too much to bear.

What's wrong with getting a "dig" in on Obama?

    Nothing.

And if it keeps your head from exploding it can even be considered therapeutic.

So why are people who happened to stay in the way of a bullet get a "Defense Medal for the Defense of Freedom" (or Purple Heart which is just the same) ?
Why doesn't everybody who gets wounded/dies at the hand of a maniac get one ?

I can understand giving out those to somebody who stopped the attacker or brought other people to safety, just not this "your great cos you got shot" idea.

"'Bout time" is not a dig by any stretch and in any case, Obama didn't make the PH decision. So where is the dig against Obama?

So when you said "the administration," you weren't talking about the Obama Administration?

Because in this post you imply that Obama had nothing to do with it.

    So which is it?

War criminal (like most of our presidents going back decades), but that's not the point here.

We take petty shots at team A or B, even if we acknowledge their bigger discrepancies. My question is why? Does it give people warm fuzzies to take pot shots at people for petty ****? It's like we'll bitch about the particular person in office while not talking about how we've been systematically/institutionally committing war crimes around the world for decades.

It's easier to focus criticism on someone than to accept that, as citizens, we're all culprits to some degree, since it's our elected leaders who take decisions on our behalf that hurt people by action or omission. Of course, our way of coming to terms with that, as irresponsible westeners, is to blame someone, and for a president, being the target of citizen reproach is part of the job. People need someone to blame, and we're all willing participants in this farce that's our modern society.

It's all very easy to blame Bush or Obama for perpetrating the immense f**kups in Afghanistan and Iraq, but come on, it was obvious Bush was incompetent and inexperienced way before taking office, and yet he got elected. Likewise, who thought Obama would magically solve both conflicts?

Today, there are ways to achieve a more participatory democracy, and yet, time and again, we fall back on the easy choice of representative democracy because, let's face it, we're too lazy and immature to even consider taking responsibilities for our actions.

The decision--made by the Department of the Army which is technically part of the Obama Administration--was based on new criteria in the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act passed by the GOP Congress.

The Secretary of the Army presented 44 Purple Hearts at a Fort Hood ceremony yesterday. The SecDef and POTUS were conspicuously absent, probably too busy reviewing the drone kill lists.

Fort Hood never should have been classified as work place violence, it was a terrorist act plain and simple.

Time flies. I can't believe it's been 6 years since this terrorist attack. Is the terrorist responsible still getting his taxpayer-funded six figure salary?
