Not sure how many of each left but there are def. 64gb 3g in stock. Also they are cheaper than apple retail price $599, $699 and $799. Post here if want address and I will pm you. Trying to get them in the hands of people who actually want them this way as opposed to people trying to resell/already have one.

Really interested! Will arrive in NY on Saturday and have two days to find an iPad before I leave again. If I can't find one this time I probably have to wait until August.

Wow, a magical store with iPads at a discount when they would sell out at retail price?? Sounds. Too. Good. To. Be. True.

Would like to see your "Cheaper" than Apple Retail prices -- Feel free to post a pic of your receipt. With the short supply it only makes sense that retailers would sell them below MSRP - Yep.

He's not kidding. Just picked up my 64/3G at the store. $799 ($829-$30).

There's maybe 5 or 6 left... not sure what kind they have left, just know that he flipped through a bunch of boxes before he pulled out a 64/3G.

where are the smart A$$ remarks about him lying now? I especially like the ones that said that it makes no sense for a store to sell below MSRP.

Good for you OP. I hate living in a world that expects the worst out of everyone.

Has nothing whatsoever to do with expecting the worst from people. It just defies logic on its face. These are items that are flying off shelves at retail price and people are just happy to get them. Some guy posts that he found a place selling below retail and it raises eyebrows. I'm happy for all who benefit from this tip, I just don't understand the thinking behind this business plan.

in the uk, the likes of john lewis sell apple goods cheaper than apple do!

apple obviously dont charge sellers what they charge us or the sellers would not make any money would they?

on average their about £50 cheaper! well my time capsule and my macbook pro were, the 27" imac was about £40 i think

I realize it is not a normal practice, however, the expecting the worst comes when you believe the guy is lying rather than believe a store might give a small discount.

obviously a reseller gets the merchandise for less than MSRP then they mark up and thats their profit.

this probably is a small locally owned shop that is trying to get business.

yeah, they would probably sell out at retail price. probably by people that never set foot in their shop and probably never would again. but think about all those people that came in to buy the iPad and got a pleasant surprise of a below MSRP discount. Now not only did they come into a store that they may have never patroned had it not been for the iPad, but now I bet you they think of that store when they are going to buy their next electronic purchase. Repeat business because of that $30 could be measured exponentially. They realize that the impression they make on the customer and the word of mouth it will get is worth far more than the $30 per ipad that they missed out on.

thats the logic = good business.

Plenty of US vendors offer discounts/rebates on Apple products, including Amazon. This, however, is a unique circumstance - that doesn't make sense from a business perspective. Stores can't keep them on the shelves at full price so there's ZERO incentive to discount. The fact that this place is doing it is puzzling. Not one person will be drawn here by the discount, that wouldn't already be drawn there just by the iPad being in stock.

It's like the old Jackie Mason joke about the guy selling suits below costs who makes it up on volume.

Somehow I doubt that people will keep pouring in if their prices on other goods aren't equally below expectations. What they're doing makes ZERO sense.

I like that the tone of the thread went from "where?" "please give me the info" to one guy saying "whatever, you're full of crap" and then after proof was given, THAT guy is totally gone from the thread. HAHA! Nicely done OP!

Might be a boosted shipment. Hence not posting the store name / number to make sure they're only bought by "real" customers and not ebayers. If they really wanted to lure people in with their low prices, wouldn't they be screaming from the mountain tops that they have iPads in stock? People would come running. What are they gaining from selling discounted iPads secretly? Twenty new customers?

i'll take 20 pure customers who really wanted an iPad than 20 eBayers.

Twenty iPad customers. Again, unless they can offer better pricing on everything, loyalty will be short-lived. Nobody's going to come back and keep buying just because they saved $30 one time; they're going to have to offer something else.

And how exactly do you determine "pure" customer? There's no way the store can stop them from selling it on ebay once it's purchased.
