BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Fox Latin America has apologized for a poll on whether Jews killed Jesus Christ that one of its staffers put on a Facebook page promoting the National Geographic Channel's Christmas special.

The poll asked readers who they think is responsible for the death of Christ: Pontius Pilate, The Jewish People or the High Priests.

The Simon Weisenthal Center in Buenos Aires calls it a defamatory reference to Vatican propaganda that "resulted in the persecution and murder of Jews for two millennia."

The Jewish group says it's outraged that Fox would perpetuate an idea that the Vatican annulled back in 1965.

Fox Spokeswoman Guadalupe Lucero apologized on behalf of National Geographic, saying the poll was removed immediately and measures have been taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Ah yes, Fox News, the world's source of misinformation is now in the blood libel business.

While TV news in general has become a haven of dumb news readers engaging in cutsey happy talk and editorializing ("gosh, Kristin, I think that's just terrible") , sensationalistic crap, and celebrity bull***, Fox stands alone as a repository of the most appalling lies, misinformation, and biased reportage ( and I use that word infinitely loosely) on TV.

Calling what they do "news" is the ultimate misnomer.

This was "FOX Latin America" not "The FOX News Channel". It is the latin version of the regular FOX channel. Just as FX is another channel. They are all owned by the same parent company but each is quite a different entity. Other FOX Networks include National Geographic networks, Speed, and numerous sports regional sports channels.

Just like NBC, MSNBC, Bravo, SciFi and USA are all quite different networks. But under all NBC Universal networks which are under Comcast.

By the way to conservatives CNN and MSNBC sound just as biased, full of lies and misinformation as FOX news sounds to liberals. Personally I just try to avoid the news all together. Since I know it will just bother me and I can't change the outcome anyways except by the tiny fraction my vote counts for.

Yes, but there does seem to be a culture at newscorp which can be seen in many of the companies it owns through out the world. Sky News (another newscorp channel) pull similar crap in the UK. Although maybe not quite as bad as the US channel.

Like phone hacking practices? Yeah that's messed up, but I don't know all the detailed. At least Rupert Murdock isn't nearly as creepy as George Soros.

Nice to see Fox is as classy as ever, no matter where in the world. :/

Big difference between "controversial" and "crass" (not to mention juvenile.)

    Interesting....
I DO know about the phone hacking. It looks just about certain that the two Murdochs are lying through their teeth and instituted the culture of corruption and intimidation. They're micromanagers. You think this culture would have happened without their knowledge? They were powermongers to whom politicians grovelled. Yet you don't find them creepy. Hmmm...

I know he's been built into a Fox hate-figure but what's the least creepy about George?
He seems to stick up for social justice and be willing to put his own money into it's promotion.
I personally would live him to be my grandfather (though I'm 63!).

I will leave it will this one post, I am not going to derail this thread.

Well if you're a left wing guy then Soros might seem ok.

I love the term social justice. Personally I think it's a term used to push the left wing agenda. Which he uses his power in the media to do. Which is exactly why his funding of news sources are bias.

The way Soros made the bulk of his money is shocking, and to me seems he only cares about padding his own wallet.

There's a big difference between sounding biased and actually being full of lies and misinformation. Factually speaking, Fox News regularly misrepresents the facts, makes things up, promulgates misinformation and generally offers viewers a skewed, factually-impaired view of the world. That is very different than perceiving a source as biased.

There's the classic quote that says you are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. It applies here.

    Well,

    vs.

I guess it comes down to a matter of personal taste.

The way I see the frame of the argument, Soros wants to take your money and give it to lazy people who do not deserve it, whereas Murdoch wants to take your money.

You are greatly underestimating my disdain for Fox News. No way can your view of MSNBC be lower than mine for Fox. Absolutely no way.

Promoting a socialist agenda supported by that Muslim Athiest Kenyan who pals around with terrorists and goes to church in front of an anti-American?

(edit) Oh, and by the way, Jews didn't kill Jesus, it was the Muslims!
(edit2) But, in the defense, they were taking orders from the Mormons.

All of them are just as accurate. It's just a case of the slant put on the news and the viewpoint most strongly represented. MSNBC and CNN are just as biased towards the liberal viewpoint as FOX News is to the conservative. None of them outright lie they just more strongly represent one viewpoint over another.

    You're welcome.:D
