Did they air them that way, as in Were you or the bloggers at the studio, looking at the photos being altered, or did they appear on some kid's tv like that?
I can make someone look really horrible on my TV too...
Boy, I'm glad debate in the media has devolved to the pranks of 14 year olds executed with the skill of 5 year olds.
My guess is that it would be pretty hard to adjust your television settings such that the image would change so asymmetrically.
You've got to be joking.
Has anyone here ever been inside a TV studio?
My guess is that the colors in the photos were pulled off the web, which is not calibrated for air - which can make them look like that.
Why would someone go through the effort? I'm not defending Fox, just saying it seems like people are making a big deal out of what COULD be nothing.
Yes. It's not the magic mirror room at the fair.
So they adjusted the colours and made chins, teeth, and jaws larger for TV? Why doesn't it happen to every picture that appears on TV if this is no normal.
You are defending fox. The photos are obviously doctored to make them appear as unflattering as possible.
It's not really the colors that are at issue here. I think we've all watched enough television to be pretty finely tuned to what poor calibration looks like. That's not it. Not by a long shot.
I can't define photoshopping, but I know it when I see it.
1. excessively darkened eye drop (#1 and #2)
2. disproportionally enlarged chin (#1)
3. disproportionally enlarged nose (#1)
4. unreasonably yellow-ish teeth (#1 and #2)
5. modified hairline (#2)
now do that on a TV.
Yes- some of us have even been on TV more than a few times.
No- this is called photoshop. Some of us in advertising know what that looks like and can use it too.
To embarrass the people in the pics.
Perhaps, but this looks pretty intentional to me.
(Taking another look at the pics, after coming down from painkillers ...)
Yes, you're right I see it now. What a stupid waste of time though, eh? ( for them to do that.)
Fox News is a stupid waste of time as well. So I see no inconsistency there.
I hope the pain killers are good.
Not as good as the morphine injection from monday though.
I read about this, and still can't help wondering why. I get that it's Fox. Worse, that it's this show on Fox. But really, what a stupid thing to do. This is as bad as "terrorist fist jabs", and just backfires on them, making them look bad. Even the faithful complain about this.
At the end of the day, they'll just claim they were just kidding around and all those dirty liberals were being too sensitive...
As an armchair Republican(not this year mind you ) I have to laugh at this stunt and say,"Yes, I do believe that Fox News is capable of sinking this low.".
Well they say the camera adds like 10 pounds. ROFL
Shame on FNC!!
but big ears, chin, and nose, and bags under the eyes?!?!? lol.
Oh those? Just some fluxuations in the broadcast signal. LOL
read this earlier....I think your all a little way too serious, I think its kind of funny....
Also, this kind of stuff has been going on for years from both the left and right, its nothing new, and nothing that the folks more to the left of things have done....
I think this needs a link or a reference. It's juvenile and funny in the "a bunch of dorks must work at Fox News" kinda' a way, but I don't think there's an equivalence.
What has this got to do with the right and the left? I thought fox news was fair and balanced?
Are you kidding me? Think for a sec.. Has anyone on, let's say, MSNBC, ever portrayed some from the "right" in an unflattering or distorted view.
What was it, amateur hour in their design department? I'm not surprised they'd do this, I'm surprised they'd do such a shoddy job of it.
Faux Noise Sucks
The only time I watch that channel is when the Simpsons are on.
Fair and Balanced my butt.
Uh. I'm not talking about an op-ed or an article, but rather just the alteration of a photo or image to make someone look bad. I can't think of an equivalent event that wasn't part of an obvious 'illustration.'
Do you have a specific one in mind? Link?
