friend just got new macbook . can i use her install disk to update mine

my friend just a got a new macbook.

i have an older one with old os.

can i use her installation disk to update mine ?

No, you cannot. Install disks are system specific thus will not work in another computer

Then it would but it's not possible in OP's case as current MacBook never shipped with Leopard
