Medium settings – (28/52/36) Very playable, smooth
High settings – (23/49/27) Playable, but sometimes stutters during explosions

    Windows
    Left 4 Dead 2 - Native resolution 1440×900
Low settings – (27/58/37) Very playable, smooth
    Medium settings – (22/43/30) Playable
High settings – (13/38/21) Playable, but stutters too much when 7+ units on the screen.

Maybe part of the reason is the Windows driver for HD3000 is not mature (Intel telltale story). Just wait a few months for the next batch of drivers and see.

Most Mac games are ports of the Windows version. They should run faster in Windows, all else being equal. I get the impression that Apple has taken direct control of driver development for OS X (or has at least driven Intel to optimize them) while the Windows driver languishes.

Apple writes its own drivers for most of the hardware on their machines. That's probably why it's faster. Intel's driver team still has a long way to go.

Intel improved the Linux side drivers vastly over last few months. Although Mac OS isn't Linux, its closer to it than Windows. I'm pretty sure the work is related.
