Garageband question

I want to have my mbp speak something i type in text edit and record it in garageband to covert to a .mp3 file. I know i can use the have it play thru the built in speakers and record it with the internal mic, just wondering if there is anyway to do it direct without outside noise without having to purchase anything else?
