I've read her blog for a while now, this sounds utterly terrifying and I'd hope given that given she's an american citizen and she has family in government that she'll be returned safely but given what's going on in Syria at the moment it doesn't sound too likely.

Deeply saddening, I can't bring myself to even think about what she could be going through right now.

Oh no. I hope they can find her, but you know how those things go over there.

Sounds like a nightmare. I read about the recent fake Facebook certificate that the Syrian government is using to get access to people's Facebook accounts. I don't know how that relates but the story made me think about how they spy on people there.

There is talk Amina Arraf doesn't exit and the blog was created to publicize the discrimination (gay) people in Syria have to face.

London-based Jelina Lecic is quite upset that her images have been used to portray Amina as she explained to BBC Newsnight:

Are gay girls in Damascus named Tom?

Apparently it was a 40 year old white guy from Georgia, and he wasn't kidnapped.

This is exactly why I don't read blogs and the like unless they're 'verified'.

Like blogs run by or sponsored by known media publications like WaPo or NYT.

I think that last update was hilarious. Two guys talking sexy with eachother because they both think the other one is a lesbian woman. LMFAO :D:D:D

Brilliant, great propaganda for the Syrian and other dictatorships over there. Way to mess it up for genuine dissidents.

    You forgot 27 ;)

    27. Always question a person's sexual preferences without any real reason.

Yeah, I feel kinda silly for caring in the first place but how're you supposed to know?

Interestingly through the course of the investigation another supposedly lesbian high profile blogger was outed as a middle aged married man. Amusingly they had both conversed with each other neither of them aware the other was a fraud.

Don't let the duplicity of others change who you are.

I know, silly to say, but WTH. :p
