GB sounds on keyboard not the same

I have one issue that I hope can be solved.
I have a Yamaha P80 keyboard hooked to a Firewire 410 then to my G4 and I have noticed that the synth and piano sounds are great when selected and played on my P80 but the other sounds that I'm allowed to play on the keyboard are washed out and sound nothing like the sound when manually selected on the GB keyboard with a mouse. I have gone through all the many settings and can't make them any better.

I can't even get my Mac to recognize my P80

Hi Nick. Sorry I can't solve your problem, but I was hoping you could help me with mine. I've done everything I can think of so far, short of creating a new user account on my Mac just for music recording. How do you have your P80 connected to your Mac, and how did you configure your P80? Your problem sounds ominous, though. Sounds like once I even get my P80 connected the Mac that the sounds I'll get from Garage Band will not be quite what I'm expecting. Thanks, Dan
