So, I was looking through my iPad (iPad 1, 64 GB, WiFi/3G), when I was shocked to see that I had 28.7 GB of storage used.

I looked at what each app was using and added it all up to find that it added up to just under 8 GBs.

Anybody have any idea where this phantom 20 GB of space usage is coming from?

I only have 5 books in my iBooks, and none of them are picture-books.
I have 13 photos saved to it.

I can't for the life of me figure out where all that space has gone...

iTunes is showing 19.8 GB of "Other."

My biggest app is Sports Illustrated at 4.8 GBs. But I know that's because I have about 12 to 15 full issues in there weighing in at about 250-300 MB each.
