Surely it must be... I know Apple are incredible at designing SOC's but one extra core is improving the Geekbench score by almost 4000 itself!? Seems a bit too good to be true. Suppose the slight clock speed boost helps a bit. I really want it to be real tho!
The L2 cache is now 8mb, up from the 3mb in A10. That alone can mean a solid performance boost.

actually, this is pretty much what I expected. given that there are 3 cores now, that 9000 multi-core score isn't too far off. And 3800 bump from 3000 is about the 30% bump in single-core performance that Apple said they got compared to A9X.

Apple made a beast of a CPU. again.

Since posting, there has been more Geekbench results coming out proving it's legit. This is amazing.

You're right, Apple yet again have "made a beast of a CPU" that it's starting to become unfair for the competition :p

I do wonder seeing as they understated their claims for the CPU improvements (could have touted the multi core improvement instead), if the GPU improvements are also understated?

That knocks over my Surface Pro 4 with i5 processor ... and absolutely smokes my 2013 MacBook Air 11" 1.3GHz i5 ...

Seriously considering getting a 12.9", but going to borrow a friends original one for a few days to see if it slots into the way I work.
