A general strike has been proposed for 9/11/07. No work, school or shopping. Even a low number of participants can make a difference. The event will show up on the radar of the Powers That Be.

    Endless War.
Hundreds of Thousands of Dead Iraqis.
    Torture.
    Surveillance.
Civil Rights and Habeas Corpus: Gone.
    Executive Privilege: No Accountability.

    9/11 Questions?

    Corporate Media.
    Corporate Government.

    Tyranny. Fascism. Lies.

    The Time Has Come.
    To Say NO.
While We Still Have a Chance.

    GENERAL STRIKE
    Tuesday 9/11/07
No Work. No School. No Shopping.
    Hit the Streets."

If I lived in the States, I would go on strike. Someone do it on my behalf :D

For me, the trouble is I own the company I work for. So if I don't turn up it'll just be assumed I've taken the day off

How would you know you hadn't turned up? You wouldn't be there to notice...

IOW, pretty much the same as if you don't own the company. :p

You'll get your low level of participants alright.

    Yeah no thanks.

Taking the day off and sitting in your house isn't a real protest.

You can expect me to be at school that day, unless you can magically make up the points for the bio lab I won't be showing up at.

My protest will be that I'll be at work, and then on to hang out with friends. Living my life as normal proving neither terrorist attacks, nor certain people who attempt to gain power from the fear of that, will change my life. It's a nice idea, but the people who should be listening won't anyway. We're already protesting them. This will be no different.

These things never go anywhere or do anything but make participants feel privileged or something...

Like "dont buy gas day"...yea, that works.

What are we trying to prove? You can take our freedoms but you cant take our freedom to slack off?

It's views like that that keep things like this strike from becoming a force.

If we don't speak up en masse who will listen ?

The majority are speaking with our actions.

The problem is, you're asking people to punish themselves. That's not much of a protest.

Mmm, see, here's the problem. This campaign is targeting people who don't actually do productive work to begin with. :D

You're right. But you know. This country is in such bad shape one can almost compare it to the days when the US was trying to break away from the tyranny of the British. In those days "punishing oneself" by doing protests and the like was an act of patriotism. Now we have our shiny cars , new Macs and television to keep us away from such "frivolities".

    Valid points on both sides.

It also shows how these people get away with the things they do.

They divided us, manipulate us and know damn well that we're too self absorbed and disorganized to ever pose a meaningful threat to their incompetence and corruption.

And to think that our new anti-terrorism strategy is to watch out for
a "bunch of guys". Not millions in the streets demanding that these vermin
    remove themselves from office.

This must be some kind of new protest by not tapping the space bar after a period. :p

I couldn't even get out of work and school on the real 9-11. Last week was nice, 4 days and all. I didn't want to come to work either today. Do a call to arms for a Monday or Friday and you might get a response.

I sure as heck won't burn a sick day on a Tuesday;)

    Unless I get invited to a Keynote:D

Boston Style! Yikes charges of ecoterrorism abound! But it'd still be fun.

So you've decided to vote Dem and express your displeasure in the current administration and their enablers? Because that's what majority is doing. Unless you meant some other majority.

Hah! I would vote for a different republican running in the primaries, but I can't throw out the baby with the bathwater because of a few bad apples.

The three republican congressmen we have in my state are a lock for re-election and Hagel announced his retirement so we'll be able to replace him with a real republican. The only choice I have to make is which presidential candidate to vote for in the primary.
