If you had apple care plus and an iPhone X, and your phone and keys tangoed in your purse, would you go and pay for a screen replacement? The only thing holding me back, is that in the history of my phone ownership...at some point something goes wrong with my phone and Apple ends up replacing it....and I just hate to pay if something else will warrant a replacement but as of now there is nothing wrong with my phone. The scratches are really only visible when it is off. I would do a screen protector next time. I haven’t had the issue much in the past.

I believe if you went in to get that replacement, you'd burn one of your two accidental damage replacements. I agree with Givmeabrek, put a screen protector on it and you won't see the scratches.

Updated: And you'll have to pay the $29.00 for that replacement.

I think it is like $79 for the replacement.

But I did just order screen protector and will give those a shot first.

So if OP were to purposely shatter the display, s/he can them claim it under AppleCare Plus right? (Of course with whatever fee they charge)

AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a service fee of $29 for screen damage, or $99 for any other damage.

Misread...edited.

Just to be clear, I have zero intent to damage my phone on purpose. Apple has always been super kind and lenient and responsive to any issue I have had. I am practically on a first name basis at the Genius Bar at my local store bc we have so my devices and things just go wrong...especially with kids. If I had gone and they denied it, I wouldn’t have complained. Anyway, screen protectors are on their way.
