I guess the makers of the film accomplished their desired shock value. I was disgusted by the opening scene.

SPOILER ALERT: People/kids are blown up, and their blood sprays those around them. I wish I'd known that before watching.

The fact you're discussing it means they've achieved their goal. Well done.

So it should be ignored from discussion?

Not what I'm saying. They've created something to shock people into discussing it, and here we are discussing it. Seems like their strategy worked.

I guess what I'm confused by then is your "well done" comment. Is it "well done" for the single reason that people discuss it?

Yeah, worked, as in convinces people one of two things, that these people are crazy sick or their ideas are crazy stupid. Oh, it probably reinforces the idea many had that greenies don't care about people and would like nothing more than to see those who don't toe the line killed.

The video is for a good cause, but it's still on of the most disgusting videos I've ever seen. Propaganda at its finest. Hitler, Stalin & Co. would be proud. I can't believe this is still on YouTube. (off-topic: I guess it's fine to see childrens' heads explode as long as you can't see a woman's chest )

Oh dear. We've been Godwin'd already?
Pretty much yes. Publicity of any sort is good when it comes to marketing. I know the likes of you and Shivvy remain to be convinced of the cause anyway, but there will be other people less-informed on the subject out there that now have a debate about what the "disgusting" promo is trying to achieve. Some like you will reject the whole thing, others won't.

Watched it a couple of days ago when eating. Terrible mistake. :D

The acting in it is very good, it's well done. I just wish that the methods of death changed in each scene. Either that, or they ended it after the first scene, would have been more punchy.

Other than that, I think the views this video has now due to being banned made the cost to make it worthwhile. The most important generation now is the younger gen who are likely to watch and discuss viral videos on the internet.

    The video certainly deserves it.

Who the hell are you, Queso, to say I "remain to be convinced of the cause" of carbon reduction? Find a single post of mine that I criticize carbon reduction.

I'll help you get started. Put the mouse over my name, click on see "Find all posts by kavika411," and start reading.

Oh, wait. I just had a brainstorm. You'll probably come back and shift your comment to be my impression of "the cause" or "the whole thing" for this particular advertisement, as opposed to carbon reduction. Knock yourself out. You can even cut-and-paste-and-edit the preceding sentence to shave some time before you hit the Submit Reply button.

    Arrogance

The arrogance of these people never ceases to astound.

A better joke would be to blow themselves up, because then they would cease emitting dangerous carbon, never procreate, and those "less-informed people remaining to be convinced" can use the body parts and entrails as food for their cows.

    Hilarious

It is after all only a advert.:) I can't believe some of the reaction to this (well I wouldn't expect anything different from the Torygraph),if this was a closeted shortarse actor killing brown people in their thousands complete with fake gore and military porn in abundance it would probably win an Oscar when it's used to try and draw attention to a very serious issue it's apparently a step too far.Monty Python used similar effects for a laugh decades ago.

Take solace in the fact that you're not alone. Although perhaps the company you keep in the form of the telegraph should ring alarm bells.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

How do I "ignore" forum posters? I searched the forums and found nothing related.

'no publicity is bad publicity' is an often repeated but false truism.
in some case it backlashes and contributes to the cause of the detractors more than to the cause itself. this is such a case.
it is an horrible ad, it fails at its attempted dark humor and only reinforces the preconceived ideas that anyone with ecological inclinations is a dangerous loonie who want to impose their view on others.

If simply scrolling past their posts is not a practical optin for you, try going to the top of this page and clicking "User CP". You should be able to figure it out from there.

Haha it sure does. Remember the Audi superbowl "green-police" commercial? We now have cities actively implementing "green-police" policies, such as Alexandria VA. They are using new recycling bins with microchips built in so they can track who recycles and who does not.

“If you know who’s participating in the programs, you can focus your education and outreach to those who are not participating,” said Stacy Herring, Alexandria’s recycling coordinator."

    Pretty scary stuff....

    Thank you Sydde ;)
