Hi guys,

I am planning on switching a family member from Sprint and adding them to my account on At&t. They would like to keep their current phone number. So, when purchasing this new iPhone, would I need both primary account holders to be there(me and him)? Or could it be me with his Sprint information?

Thanks,
Jack

If you're doing it at a B&M, then probably you'll need him unless you're an authorized agent in the account (AT&T does this; not sure if Sprint does). However, if you're doing online you'll only need the account info. And it goes without saying that the Sprint account shouldn't be cancelled or else the number can't be ported; porting cancels it automatically.

I cannot wait to take my 3 lines to AT&T off of Sprint. 15 more days until my contract is up!

You can go purchase the new line and phone at your favorite retailer. Once they've setup the account, go home, call AT&T and tell them you want to port-in the number from Sprint to the new line. This is a little easier if you don't have a lot of time to hang out at the store.

Ah, I'm sorry! It looks like Sprint has changed this! I'm on one of the old Everything Data plans and I guess they changed it when they introduced the new plans. The web pages for the ETF is not the same as it was.

Here's what I could dig up.

I called Sprint and talked to a csr. She said I can cancel within the last month if the contract end date falls in the last billing cycle. My billing cycle is from oct 1st to oct 30th. I am responsible to pay this month but I can go ahead and leave at anytime without etf.

What happens when I go to Att to do the port and they don't have any iphone 5s's in stock? Does the port take effect then or when my phone arrives. Will they give us loaners?

I think the port takes effect when you activate your new phone.

I'm in the same boat. Waiting for a 32GB 5S in silver and wanting to transfer from Sprint to AT&T. I was just going to use an older phone until an iPhone got in stock. For now, I'm just going to wait. My contract is up in November. If I can hold off a bit I'll save $100 in ETFs. 6 months was worth paying it, 1 month isn't. We also have 4 lines and 2 of them are 5Ss so I'm not expecting any inventory to come in soon.

Right now the 32gb silver does not show a delay on att site, so I assume they have them in stock. Go look right now though.

Seriously, can you provide me with information on this? I would like to go ahead and put my order in for my new lines if that is the case.

I'm also leaving Sprint but going to Verizon.

My contract is up in 9 days...I'm heading to Verizon tomorrow to sort out the details, get a new contract and put in the order for my new phone. I'll be porting my number as well and understand that the change doesn't take place until the new phone is activated by you.

I think it's better to do it as early as possible seeing as how the shipping times are obscene for anything other than a Space Grey 5s.

Wow, that's pretty neat.

The gold 16 is shipping 28-42 days (or something like that). That's too long. I'd hate to sit here waiting for that and then the next month rolls over with Sprint. I want to make sure I can make a clean break and not end up paying for an extra month.

Dang my wife wants a gold one and I original had one ordered for her in the 7-10 days shipping group with Sprint but had to cancel. I wonder if the white and silver ones are shipping faster. I'll go by AT&T today. I would rather go to an apple store or order online, but I want to get my FAN (Employer) Discount on my service plan.
