He never seemed to gain much steam. Not much love loss from many. What's interesting is that Hillary might have been the Jeb counterpart, but didn't have any competition from her party. Both had a number of things in common, going back to the "Bush/Clinton" of the past. Both had big names, long history of service, background in winning in the past. I wonder if Hillary's support would have been about the same as Bush's if the Dems had someone else to choose from. This idea is supported by Bernie coming from near-nothing to a real shot.
