B&H has it for $799 (128 GB storage version) till the 28th. Is this a bargain? I realize it's for basically a laptop that's 2 years outdated already. But I do like that it has the classic USB port and MagSafe power. I'm currently on a mid-2012 so this would be an upgrade for me.

$799 has been the on-sale price point for a while now. Best Buy is regularly at this price too. Decent deal if you need it now (especially if no tax)

The 2017 update was only a tiny clock speed increase of the CPU on the low-end model, so it's really 3 years oudated. Still, that's the Mac I would buy myself because of the keyboard, the USB-A ports and the intel integrated graphics. I've never heard of any laptop with intel integrated graphics (only) overheating and destroying itself, and the MacBook Air seems to be known as the longest-lasting laptop Apple ever made.

The real question is, do
you think it's worth $799?

On occasion, as was the case 2 weeks ago, Best Buy lowers the price by another $100,typically for just a day.

With the student discount, that takes the cost to $650 plus tax.

In my State, tax is about $56. That means the Best Buy sale price is still almost $100 less than B&H.

I’m not sure why B&H found it necessary to ‘con’ us with the already-on-sale price, but the MBA has been $799 there for several weeks.

A better price can be had. Watch out for Best Buy daily deals. I got my 2017 air a few days ago when it hit $699. Took off another $50 with student coupon and boom. You have an awesome and dependenable laptop for the next few years for $650. I have a 2017 mbp and 2017 MacBook at home and I leave them at home and take my air for the insane battery life with me to work daily.

I got mine for 650 bucks too! I felt like I was stealing from the shop then remembered I was buying from Best Buy. I also have a 2014 13" MBP but prefer the MBA because it's just such a pleasure to use.

As others have said, $799 is the standard "sale" price of the 2017 - 128 Gig model. I would find it VERY difficult to limit myself to 128Gigs. I have seen the 256Gig model on sale twice, for $899 - before any other coupons/student wharever/etc... i'd advise that route, if possible.

Either way, good luck and enjoy an amazing little machine, no matter how much Apple disregards it, like the Mac Mini.
