good program to run to test hardware?

Is there a good program that one can run to test hardware, and everything on the new intel macs?

What do you want to test? Macs usually come with a hardware test that allows you to make sure everything is in order.

is that software, is it on the cd, dvd or on the mac to begin with?

Um . . . it used to be a separate bootable DVD. Not sure if it is still the same.
