well how can you argue with this logic? well when you idolize Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin you can't expect much.

A Republican candidate for Congress in Louisiana has released a campaign video, subtlety titled "GLOBAL WARMING IS A HOAX" that is, unexpectedly, about her belief that global warming is a hoax.

Lenar Whitney, who did not respond to an interview request from The Daily Beast, is a state representative from the Bayou State and the Republican National Committee's "committee woman from Louisiana," according to her website. She counts Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin among her idols and believes climate change can be credibly disproved with a thermometer. She is running in the Nov. 4 nonpartisan jungle primary, to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Bill Cassidy, who is running for Senate.

Whitney, 55, sports long blonde hair and heavy eye makeup. In the glossy, black and white video, she speaks in a gleeful, infantilized tone about "liberals in the lamestream media" becoming "unglued" over her statements about climate change.

She calls out former Vice President Al Gore for "his propaganda film, The Inconvenient Truth," (actually titled An Inconvenient Truth). "Quite inconveniently for Al Gore and the rest of the politicians who continue to advance this delusion, any 10 year old can invalidate their thesis with one of this simplest scientific devices known to man, a thermometer," she says while holding up a thermometer, in the event that viewers aren't sure what they look like.

She then hits President Obama for believing in climate change while acknowledging that it sometimes snows. "In the Obama Administration, down is up, two plus two equals five, and ignorance is strength."

Whitney doesn't just stop at calling climate change a hoax. She also claims that there is consensus among scientists that the Earth has been getting colder over the last decade — but when asked by The Cook Political Report's David Wasserman where she got her facts, Whitney reportedly "froze and was unable to cite a single scientist, journal or news source to back up her beliefs." A spokesman for Whitney told The Daily Caller that the story was a mischaracterization and "it's just liberal elites hating conservative women."

...and by scientists, I mean any 10 year old with a thermometer. Well, not any ten year old. My nieces and nephews.

Further proof that state representatives have such a low bar for entry that it should count against someone's credibility.

She relies solely on strong language and conflating things through the entire video. I really hope that most people in her state do not take her seriously. With that aside, did anyone notice she looks and sounds like a retired pornstar?

Because the vast majority of southerners are simple minded. Every political candidate runs on the same platform. Repeal Obamacare, stop big government, protect their second amendment rights, and stop the homosexual agenda. Oh I almost forgot abortion! Really it all comes down to two things, abortion and gays.

When you have a majority of your citizens convinced that the black man in the White House has an evil communist agenda, you can tie everything back to that, and distract from the issues that matter.

When you convince ignorant people that the government is coming to take away their guns, raise their taxes, and force their children to eat healthy, you have a group of ignorant people fired up and ready to go. It's brilliant.

These people cannot sit down and debate policy because quite frankly, they don't know anything about policy. You can't bring up wealth inequality because their only response is to dismiss it as trying to stir up class warfare which they then link back to communism.

They couldn't care less if someone else's child is starving to death, or what problems they face as long as it isn't affecting them. Think I am exaggerating? When I ask most conservatives I know how they can let people around them suffer and not support assistance, their response is "as long as it doesn't affect me or mine, I don't care." They are the one's that yell and scream to send back the illegals, shoot them on the border if necessary, and if someone is dying due to lack of healthcare, they are leading the chant, "LET EM DIE!"

Speaking as a scientist, I do wish politicians would stop trying to twist what we say.

Look at her eyes. She is violating Michelle Bachmann's patent on creepy eyes. I think we can all guess where she keeps that thermometer.

Lincoln should have let them stay their own country. They're only dragging the rest of us down. We'd actually be living in a 21st century country if it was just the Northeast and the West Coast instead of having the South try to drag us back to 1800.

On this topic, this lady should be given a lobotomy.. it might make her more intelligent.

    Then hand her this thermometer:

Please provide a source, per forum rules, that the vast majority of southerners are simpleminded.

Otherwise, please remove that ridiculous generalization from your post, again, as per forum rules.

    Thank you.

Representatives are called representatives for a reason. And let's get real, the South has never exactly been the holy grail of American intellectualism...

You want sources to prove what I observe every day and have observed for 30 years? Google it. Any category you choose, education, poverty, belief in global warming, or obesity. You name it and southerners are in poorer health, believe ridiculous theories, and are overall less educated than other parts of the country. If "simple minded" is offensive I can change it to stupid or ignorant.

I am not saying everyone is this way. But the majority really do cling to their guns and their religion, and have no interest in using their brains to learn or grow as individuals.
