Hi

i have the SS Graphite watch. It appears in the Watch App as Aluminum, with the latest version of watchOS. This seems to be more than a simple bug.

it results in two watches being listed in Security and Privacy (general tab) . One has the watch name followed by aluminum. The second watch listed in Security and Privacy general tab has the same watch name, followed by stainless steel. Only the first watch actually unlocks my iMac. The second is non-functional.

Has anyone had This? If so, have you found a solution?

Thanks

There are a few threads about this. I reported it to Apple at their bug feedback site. I assume it will be corrected at some point.

It is not the aluminum vs SS aspect in the watch app that bothers me so much. It is the fact that I have two watches in “security and privacy”.

Mine is also the 44mm graphite stainless steel and it shows up as Aluminum.

I see only my old and new watch on the security screen. My AW6 SS does show as aluminum in the app.

Yeah, so am I.

Apple Support had me run iNac diagnostic capture routines and screen shots and upload the data. According to the support staff member, who has been superb, engineering will be looking at the issue. Perhaps I might hear more on Monday.

I’d like to check this out for myself but I do not see a “Security and Privacy” section anywhere in the Watch app on the iPhone, in the Settings app on iPhone, or on the Watch itself, in Settings. Where do I go (specifically) to see this?

If you have a Mac, go to Security and Privacy. Look in the general tab. The watches that can unlock the Mac may be incorrectly labeled.

On Friday, I got a call back from Apple tech support after submitting the diagnostic data. Engineering, acknowledged the issue, but has no fix.

This issue has been fixed in iOS 14.1.
