show exactly what the problem is as well and the longer this goes on shows the Tea party does not care about the people but instead screwing us all for there own petty gain.

The taxes need to be raised on the top 1% and raised big time. Bush tax cuts need to be rolled back and then raise taxes on top of that.

Lemme see....48% of Americans do not pay taxes. Many of those claim "Rich" people dont pay their fair share...Then you take an Al-Jazeera propaganda film for claim of inequality in America...Your grandfathers are rolling over in their graves comrades...

Why the quotes? Do you doubt that there are any rich people in the US?

    'Rich' is a subjective term.

What type of 'rich' people in the US are we talking about?

    EDIT:

Hopefully the video is better than the article that served as the basis for this thread.

It's far from the only subjective term he used....yet it was the only one placed in quotes.

Demonstrably false (source, source). Stop parroting malicious lies.

This is debatable, but I'd say they don't.

    Ad hominem attack. Try again.

sorry but if they buy anything they pay sales tax which has been proven to be very regressive. Any time you have to pay a service fee to the government guess what that is a super regressive tax.
Buy gas pay tax. Rent property indirectly paying property tax.

Sorry but that is complete BS that 48% do not pay taxes.
They also pay SS mediated and payroll tax.

    How about some more?

America has second lowest corporate taxes in the developed world: http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/07/05/260535/graph-corporate-tax-second-lowest/

Ten charts that prove America is one of the least taxed nations in the world and taxes/tax revenues are at all time lows. http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2011/06/low_tax.html

Many think that Al-Jazeera is one of the few remaining valid news originations, unlike some Western sources.

Sure, they may have ulterior motives, but even if so, they can achieve those motives by just publishing the truth.

Rich usually means someone who has more than you do, but since they don't spend their money on the things you feel are important (usually some form of giving it away to people who aren't rich), it's necessary for the government to intervene and relieve them of that particular burden.

He probably meant that 48% of Americans pay no federal income tax.

Given that the super-rich voted overwhelmingly for Obama, I'm all for raising their taxes. We can start with double and go from there.

You do know how Wikipedia works don't you? ... below is taken right from your link.

Al-Jazeera is just another media outlet

The citations are right there for you to challenge. Your opinion of Wikipedia is immaterial to those points.

It's called in depth on the the ground journalism. It used to be part of the mainstream media in this country.

Watch some of their video segments, 5+ minutes on each story, real questions, real interviews with people, they ask the tough questions and don't let the non-answers slide in their follow ups.

    1. It's not owned by Rupert Murdoch.
    2. They hire people with educations.
    3. They try to present the news and competent analysis.

    Do you need more?

Yes, how about something of substance this time 'round?

Criticism and Controversy from the afore provided link.

    EDIT:

Just because something is considered new, fancy, trendy and is not widely known to a certain country's population does not make it any more trustworthy or reputable than, say, FOX News, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc...

Have you watched any Al-Jazeera english? Seriously, they take journalism to a whole different level (comparatively). Full in depth investigations, tough questions with actual tough follow ups. Watch a few of their "in depth" (thats what they call it) investigations and it makes our 3 minute CBS/NBC/ABC sound bite stories look like what they are....complete fluff on important issues.

Just because something caters to ones momentary fascination with the seemingly obscure, does not make it any better than what one is accustom to.

If you'd bothered to read the 'Controversy and Criticism', you would have seen that they have their fair share of issues and are hardly different from ABC, NPR, BBC, CBS, SKY NEWS, FOX NEWS etc...

And let me try to get an honest answer out of you, did you even bother reading or watching them before the Arab Spring?

It's not that I found the information in the video to be factually incorrect, it's that I didn't find anything wrong with it.

And the chick in the video is kinda cute.
