So I'm mostly editing video on my powerbook, and I'm thinking a spin dial would be very useful since I'm always trying to zip through video and the mouse is neither accurate nor quick. And using the keyboard is accurate but way too slow.

So I want to buy an input device to help me out. Griffin makes a very beautiful looking powermate, but is it more style than substance?

Powermate

Contour makes a much more expensive device with buttons for hotkeys. This one seems more useful, but it's style is lacking.

Shuttle Pro 2

Anyone have any comments on either?

Do they click into place when spinning? Or do they spin freely?
joe.

I use a PowerMate, but the Shuttle has more features. Get that, if you are spending a lot of time with editing.

Dan

oops - PM spins freely
