More like hieroglyphics crap and replacing language with stick figure imagery to appease the illiterate.

Most people who see guns usually have kneejerk associations involving fear or violence. I wonder why people would have those types of initial responses?

Of course, replace the image of a gun with two people kissing or engaging in foreplay and the context changes.

But is it "being too PC"? What would Jesus do?

On the plus side, if there really is one, people who use that emoji, combined with certain text, might make it easier to get terrorists or creepy people who go to movie theaters or sleazy nightclubs where people have sex in the bathrooms (been there, saw that, saved my puke for the car...)

Seems to me that even with the shootings, it's explosives that pose the greater threat. Will those go away as well?

Also, I'm not sure I understand - is this part of 9.3.4? On 9.3.3 it's still a revolver.

At least I can understand emojis.

Don't want everyone to start going back to ridiculous long acronyms.

And so it does...I don't know if there is an appropriate icon for it, but just imagine one that says I feel sheepish.

I don't care which icon is used, but emoji should be reasonably identical across platforms.

There is the potential for miscommunication if you think you are sending a squirt gun icon but a Windows/Android user sees a real gun icon.

Oh god who cares. A gun is an object, they exist, even if they are eradicated from the earth the idea of guns will still linger. An emoji gun will hurt no one, nor should any cop mistake an emoji on a person's cell phone as an actual firearm.

I find the politics around emoji quite remarkable.

People are way too attached to their emoji. One of the more heated debates in PRSI revolved around new skin tones being added to the emoji library. It was amazing how many people railed against that.

My advice is when you find yourself getting upset over little cartoons, you may need to adjust your priorities.

Or not. It's up to you.

Cheers to those of you who couldn't give a rat's ass. I second that emotion.

Political correctness is an ever-evolving understanding amongst some people as to what is acceptable in public and what is not.

How would you go about changing that?

It's only an emoji lol. Whether it's a water pistol or a gun, does it matter?
