This is very close to where I grew up, and I currently don't live that far from here.

More ammo for the Anti-gun crowd I guess.

Can't wait to hear how he obtained the guns. I bet he was just another responsible gun owner and member of a well regulated militia exercising his 2nd amendment rights when he bought them

How about the 6-month old baby that was shot and killed while her dad was changing her diaper?

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/12/justice/illinois-baby-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

To the NRA this is just acceptable collateral damage right?

I didn't know the NRA was an advocate for gang violence.

It is sad that the little girl was shot, even sadder that it happens too often in Chicago.

They clearly aren't but that doesn't mean they don't try write off shootings that happen like this multiple times a day in this country as acceptable collateral damage.

No point in responding to his post, they are a waste of time.

That poor baby, I can't believe something like that could happen in Chicago. You know, being that guns are illegal there.

Great, that's one incident of the average of 80 murders per day in this country that the pro-gun crowd continues to write off.

    http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Large-Street-Fight-Leads-to-Shooting-197752261.html

And that was just the first couple of stories on google news search.

These deaths are all just collateral damage so we can maintain our "freedom" right?

It is amazing isn't it? Rahm and McCarthy will blame the NRA as well.

It is, the NRA is being held responsible for bad parenting and generations of uncivilized human beings who have no respect for human life.

What do you suggest? Ban all guns? That won't work.

It's amazingly tragic to hear news like this. It's pathetically tragic to have the thread derailed in no less than 3 posts.

Don't mind me, let the death circus continue.

    Absolutely false.

Guns are not illegal in Chicago.

So chances are he the shooter probably bought the guns through his local gun shop then. Good, that makes it easier to trace.

OK not illegal in Chicago, but illegal to sell firearms in Chicago and really hard to get a permit.

Really hard to get a permit is not illegal.

    Thanks for the clarification.

    From your link:

What's so hard about that? I don't think any of the above is unreasonable.

    Thanks, you're awesome.

I am sure it's been covered in the million other gun threads, but what percentage of gun crimes are committed from the legal owner of the gun used in the crime?

And you know what other onerous regulation you need to follow?

If your guns get stolen ... wait for it ... you must report the theft to the police!

    ----------

    I don't know.

    How many?

Not sure what your point is, the permit still has to be issued and those are the baseline for getting the permit.

Just like in Albany County NY, where the requirements are similar and you have to pay about $200 for a background check and fingerprinting there is still a very good chance you can be denied a concealed carry or be limited to home and range use only.

Don't let the "requirements" fool you into thinking it's that easy.

    What's your point?

If crimes are being committed by someone other than the legal owner, someone was being irresponsible with their weapon(s).

It's not asking too much to keep them secure, is it?

I thought you knew professor, that's why I was asking you.

    ----------

It's not too much to ask. I'd like that very much.

Wow genius, thanks for the list of gun shops outside the city limits of Chicago.

    You brought it up.

Can I just ask you anything and expect an answer?

As a gun enthusiast, how many bullets are fired each year?

How many grains of gun powder is that?

    Surely you must know, professor.

As an anti-gun activist, I thought you'd have all the statistics ready to go.

If you shoot 100ish every other week you will be close to 3000 in a year.

Depends. I can reload 3000 bullets for a 9mm handgun using 2 pounds of power (or there about).
