The only difference is Cancer is not as preventable.
Posting before the usual suspects come with glib “guns don’t kill people” ********.
This country has a massive problem, and in typical US tradition we’ll continue to ignore it to appease an extremely small fanatical minority.
How about tackling the issue, “why is there an increase of human violence especially amongst our teens?”
Instead of going after the tool that these troubled people are using..
Although cancer in children is rare, it is the leading cause of death by disease past infancy among children in the United States. In 2018, it is estimated that 15,590 children and adolescents ages 0 to 19 will be diagnosed with cancer and 1,780 will die of the disease in the United States (1). Among children ages 0 to 14 years, it is estimated that, in 2018, 10,590 will be diagnosed with cancer and 1,180 will die of the disease (1). Among adolescents ages 15 to 19 years, about 5000 will be diagnosed with cancer and about 600 will die of the disease.
411 children (age 14 and under) died from gunfire or slightly more than one per day. This includes homicides, accidents, and suicides combined. 4
Criminals are included – According to the CDC, over half of all homicides of victims aged 15-19 are gang-related. The same study found that gang-related homicides are more likely to involve firearms than those that are not (95% versus 69%). 5
Suicides are included – 26% of child firearm deaths are suicides. Hence, the “13 children” statistic includes these suicides. 6
Because it's easy to blame the gun(s).
so are the death of the kids............ don't give them guns.........wait, they can't own guns as they are not 18 and there are laws already in the books should you leave your gun near a kid and he does something with it........
Well abortion is preventable as well but how many innocent unborn children are slaughtered each year? No gun is used in those homicides.....
4% (125) were unintentional deaths (probably ****** parenting), the rest are homicide and suicide (ie....the result of human behavior).
Numbers get skewed to suit their narrative.. Like the whole school shooting thing. Included in that, if I remember correctly, were shootings at 2am that happened within a few blocks of the school..
More false narrative mumbo-jumbo that's designed to whip people into a farcical frenzy...
Facts are a bitch once you unpack them.
Minorities matter too, do they not?
My, health science must not be a strong suit for many here. Childhood cancer is very rare as it is. Age is not a risk factor until 55+ years of age.
Yes, agreed, many gun deaths are preventable.
So are deaths due to inattentive driving and physician malpractice.
My money is on working to solve either of those two issues first will serve to reduce the most amount of deaths that are preventable.
But that’s if people can be honest that’s what you really want, and not guns to be taken away or flat out banned without reason.
I’ve worked in hospitals for over a decade now and have seen zero pediatric patients with cancer. There have been young adults (18-25) but those are rare as well.
Troll thread is trolling.
liberals are making up the numbers that suit them. that is why they include suicides in the gun "violence" numbers.
We'll find a cure for cancer long before we manage to ban guns, I fear.
well, prohibition did not even work when Jesus tried it........
Do more people have guns or cancer..?
about 85 million gun owners with over 300 million guns between them, and yet the murder rate annually is 8-12k........
