I am right handed person. I wear my watch on the left wrist. I wear it so that the crown faces on the top right side. However, recently I saw photos on this forum where left armed wearers wear it so that the crown is on the bottom left.

I got my AW Ultra today and with it being bulkier, the crown digs into my hand a bit. Then I clocked that perhaps this is meant to be worn the other way round.

What is the CORRECT way to wear it?!

Thanks! I'm wondering that with the AWU now as bulky as it is (which I love), does it make sense to swap the orientation so that the added bulk on the side (because of the crown unit) is on the bottom left so that it doesnt keep digging into the hand?

Argh I'm confused.

I've tried both ways. With the crown on the hand side of the wrist, it sometimes activates when the wrist bends. Wearing the crown on the arm side prevents that. Also, it's sometimes easier to push the buttons when they are on the arm side. Ultimately it's personal preference.

Will wear it the 'intended' way for a couple of days and then swap over for the next couple!

As skyhawkmatthew said, your way is the typical orientation for left-handed users. It's also probably easier for most, since you can easily twirl the crown with your right index finger. But I think the difference for some is whether they wear their watch behind the wrist bone (most common) or in front (bracelet-style, less common). If the latter, then I can see why it might dig into your hand a bit.

I switched my Series 7 to this a few months ago due to the crown digging into my hand, and the Ultra makes even more sense this way. It also makes it easier to push the buttons without extra unwanted clicks.

I was a crown on the arm side person actually since the beginning. However, the ultra, I turned it back around. Do what works for you, but the crown guard seems to protect the buttons from being depressed more effectively for me so I can return to standard wear.

That's the way I wear mine (crown on top right).

I have tried inverting the watch orientation (which some people say supposedly makes it easier to press the home button with your thumb). Didn't make a difference.

Though I usually wear my watch with the band a little lose, so it rides higher up my wrist, and I don't think I have had issues with my wrist pressing into the Digital Crown.

The way you’re describing is the default, and is what appears most often in Apple’s marketing, so I would say that is the “correct” way to wear it. I’m also right handed with my watch on my left wrist, and that’s how I orient it as well.

However, the orientation settings are there if you prefer it the other way, so try both and see which one you like best! Your post has actually inspired me to try out the other orientation for a few days!

I wear my series left wrist crown bottom left, this is due it being much easier to pause a workout with the double press in this position.

With reports of people pressing both buttons by mistake on the Ultra I would think that it would be the much better option for this watch also.

Left-handed here. I‘ve always worn my AW on the right wrist, crown top/right (away from wrist) to prevent the crown
from being pressed during floor workouts.

There is no wrong way and Apple under Orientation allows you to wear it on either arm and crown in both directions.

It is your choice.

I think I am one the lefties you are talking about. I decided on that orientation because it was easier for me to use the Digital Crown and "looked" more symmetrical to me. I do note, as others have mentioned, I do often press the crown in during certain workouts and that is annoying.

With the bigger crown and action button on the Ultra, I am going to give the reverse a try, I am having a hard time pressing the side button without also pressing the action button with my fat thumb in the current set-up, I am hoping my index finger is a little more deft.

Overall, I think the TLDR response here - wear it the way it works for you . . . that is why they gave us options!

Has anyone tried barbell lifting in the “front rack” position (e.g. front squat, clean) with an Apple Watch ultra? Wrist gets bent a long way back in the position.

Mine doesn’t arrive until early October. I plan to keep my series 6 as a secondary AW anyway, but wondering how practical the AW ultra will be for CrossFit.
