iPod touch hard reset not working...NEED HELP QUICK

i recently tried to do a hard reset on my -what was jailbroken- iPod touch. all was going well until it just came up with the "apple" screen an nothing else. no hard buttons have any effect and it has been this way for almost 3.5 hours. can someone please tell me how to fix this?!

Hold the power and home button and do a dfu restore in itunes.
