We will be traveling outside the states later in 2009 and I would like to get my iphone unlocked so I can use a different SIM after we get to Germany.

    Anyone else done this?

Nope. You sign up for the world travel plan. They don't unlock it.

Yeah AT&T wants you to roam so that they can charge the $1.50 /minute (or maybe more). If you want to unlock it you'll have to go about it yourself.

    Good luck!

Tried it, but no dice... I tried explaining to them that I was heading overseas with the military and need to use in-country SIM cards... they said that the capability wasn't there for them to unlock it... I call B.S. because Apple never denied it couldn't be done, and that ATT was the only group that can unlock it.
