I'm planning on waking up 10 minutes before and refreshing the apple store page on my computer and the apple store app on my iPhone. Has anyone done this before and not gotten it on release? If so, how long did it take for you to get it?

I guess everyone in here will do same like you , and all people in usa will do so ..,,,

every year apps store and browser got freeze ,,,,

You might need change your internet connection to maximum speed for 1 day to increase higher chance .,,,, click faster and buy easier :)

I preordered the 7+ (Jet Black) last year near midnight and it wasn't here till about a week and a half after the release date (I was given a 2-3 week estimate). The Jet Black was in really short supply however and I did have to sign up for the AUP so it took a little longer to order. I will say in my experience the app usually goes live before the website (at least since the 6 that's been the case for me). Basically, if you order right at midnight (using the app) and select a model that isn't as popular you're pretty much guaranteed a phone on launch day but if the model you want is a popular one, it's a bit trickier and there is a chance you won't get it at launch

What's AUP?

I don't care who orders it "first" last year was total crapshoot. Some ordered hours/days after others and got long before those who ordered much earlier etc. Luck of the draw I think.

So preorder just like lottery random pick .... First 10,000 iphone stock will pick by system choose ,,,, :p

I haven't found this to be the case. Last year was absolute chaos but I don't remember any cases where someone ordered after another and got it sooner (at least with the same model). Every thread I followed last year had each group (usually 3-5 minutes apart) shipped at the same time

There are a lot of variables when trying to pre-order. There is never a guarantee, but you can only try and it depends on which model/storage you are also choosing as well.

This happened to me last year. I got it about a week later from launch. I got my order in a few minutes after preorder time. I ordered the jet black 7 plus which was the most popular. I usually had success getting them on launch day.

I was always under the impression that every time zone ordered at midnight, but last year I though I read that all the time zones order at the same time, ie, East Coast 3AM , Central 2AM, Mountain, 1AM and Pacific midnight. Is this correct?
I'm on the West Coast so could care less, but if this is true, it seems like it screws the other zones, especially the East Coast at 3AM.

This is correct. I'm in the Central time zone so my preorder time is 2AM.

Yep. Last year, mine was one of thousands that got caught in a typhoon near Hong Kong, IIRC, and bounced around Asia for an extra couple of days. Then something happened with UPS once it actually got stateside and instead of getting it on Friday, I had to wait until Monday. Basically UPS lied to me and insisted that it was on the truck for delivery Fri., no matter how late it got, and didn't admit until Saturday am that it wasn't even in my city. Furious doesn't begin to describe my feelings on that one. A typhoon, I can roll with, but incompetence is a whole 'nother deal.

Yeah, I'm on the East Coast and while it kinda sucks having to get up at 2:45 am on a work night, it's sort of become part of the "experience" now.

While the rose gold 7 plus wasn't in super demand, I literally ordered it at like 7am eastern and got it on release day lol

This Is an interesting post. And the reason you received your rose gold iPhone so quickly, was because this was the least popular color likely in demand. Most were interested in the Matte black and Jet black iPhone last year, when rose gold is one of the older colors in the lineup next to silver, which the white bezel is not a favorite among others as well.

So many others who ordered the rose gold iPhone or silver iPhone last year, received it fairly quickly over those were waiting weeks, if not months to get the new Jet/Matt black colors.

Might be a nice time to visit Hawaii where the preorder time is 9PM! How about Guam at 5PM on the previous day?
