has there been any improvment to location tracking/geo fencing?

just wondering if they improved the geo fencing in IOS 10 to have less impact on battery drain
would also be nice it we could trigger events on connect to a specified ssid without the need for gps.

I didn't use any geofencing until ios10 so I can't really answer your question. I can say that if I take into account that it's a beta, geo-fencing doesn't use a lot of battery at all. The battery life is only slightly worse than ios9, and it's the same as beta ios10 vs beta ios10 with geofencing.

Nothing has changed in terms of geofencing system efficiency in iOS 10. If you want battery life reports, wait for the Golden Master to be released in August/September since betas include much more debug code and send usage data to Apple to help engineers fix bugs, meaning battery life will always be worse than before until iOS is taken out of debug mode with the release build.
