*I did a quick search and didn't see this*

    question:

I have the original 2G iPhone but I may be able to buy the 3G for $150 locally. Can I just put the SIM card from my 2G into the 3G and that's it? Will att know I changed to the 3G b/c if i remember right the 3G has a different data plan right?

    Thanks a lot-Baron

I'm quite sure all you have to do is switch SIM's then allow your iPhone to activate itself through iTunes. But why are you using AT&T? T-mobile ftw.. $10 internet!

The phone is paid for through my work (i'm on a business plan) and t-mobile coverage around here is even worse then att.

Moving the SIM will work. AT&T is aware of what equipment is used on their network but I'm not sure what billing action they'll take. I ran the wifey's 2G sim in my 3G for a few days so I doubt I'll see anything on the bill.
