Have you gone over your 2GB limit and did AT&T care?

I am currently grandfathered into an unlimited data plan on my iPhone 4. I'm just curious to know if AT&T is actually enforcing the 2GB limit, or is just put on there so you won't use up bandwidth unnecessarily.

Offcourse they don't care. They just charge you extra when you go over.
It's not free. $10 more for an extra GB of data.

Of course they care but they aren't going to contact you, just charge you more.

Their is a cap of 5GB on the unlimited plan, but I'm not sure how well AT&T enforces it.

The system automatically charges you after you hit 2GB, if that's what you were wondering.

I've gone over 5gb a few times and nothing happened. I do average between 3-5gb a month.

Im sorry, I thought he was asking about the 2GB plan.
On the unlimited they dont contact you since its unlimited. I know people that have gone over 8-10GB per month on unlimited iphone data plans.

I was actually talking about the 2GB plan. I wanted to know, just in case I ever had to leave the unlimited plan.

In that case of course they enforce it. They watch it like a hawk. They will charge you $10 for going .01MB over.

    Oh ok.
Yes the 2GB data plan comes with only 2GB of usage and if you go over they charge you an extra $10 for another 1GB.

This isn't a well conceived poll. When it comes to money, AT&T is definitely going to charge you for going a byte over 2GB.

I'm always on wifi so I switched to the 200MB plan, if my wifi went out I would anticipate about 3GB of usage.

My dad used .02KB of data on his dumbphone and was charged $2 for data, which was the price for 1MB I believe.

I know that when AT&T had unlimited data, some people would use the data just for the sake of using it. Including canceling their home internet and just tethering their phone. I was just curious to know if the 2GB limit was more of a threat than an actual "law".

    It is the "law".
Kinda like the minutes and texts messages in your plan, if you go over then you pay extra.
So is the 2GB data plan if you go over 2048MB you will get charged.
Many posts above telling you exactly how much, is it that hard to understand?

i normally use about 700MB per month. last month on one particular day, i had an anomaly where i supposedly consumed over 2GB of data. i called AT&T and told them that it was impossible, because i wasn't using any data intensive apps and secondly, i was at home on my wifi when this occurred. they happily credited my account for all the overages.

It isn't hard to understand. But it seems a few people were confused by my question.

They care, because they send multiple texts and emails warning that your coming close to your limit.

I turned off internet service at home so I was using my 3G much more often this month. I finally went over the 2G and was charged $10.

Nope, no cap. There are stories about people going to 80+ GB with no problem. (by using netflix, pandora, etc)

Everyone has an unlimited plan. You just have to pay for what you use and not one flat rate like my loveable unlimited plan.
