I want to start off by saying I’m really hyped for the new phone that I should be getting within the next couple of weeks. I ordered a 12 Pro a few minutes past midnight on the 23rd (pre-orders started on that day here) and am very excited to get it as it will be a nice upgrade from my SE2.

That being said, I’ve been reading a lot of reviews from this site and Reddit, and it seems like there are a fair chunk of people who found the 12 Pro to be too large and heavy, especially for some one-handed use. My last few iPhones have been the 5s, SE1, X, and SE2, so all of these phones were easily able to be used one-handed. I was hoping the 12 Pro would be a similar size to the X or 11 Pro, so when I heard it was bigger, I was a little disappointed but still thought it would be manageable since it’s only a little bit bigger.

But after seeing lots of people here saying they are returning the 12 Pro for the Mini, it’s been giving me second thoughts. Now, reasons why I still am thinking of keeping the 12 Pro is because it’ll have good real-estate for media, the extra RAM, the colors (and stainless steel), nicer camera, and a bigger battery. However, since size/one-handed use is one of the most important factors for me, that is making me think twice about my Pro.

Any 12/12 Pro users out there who can use your phone with one hand and/or does not feel your phone is too big? I look forward to seeing your responses! :)

I returned mine because i found it to small.😂

In saying that loved the size and weight, light as a feather (iPhone 12)

just couldn’t get use to the screen size.

Wait for the phone to arrive, use it for a few days, you might end up liking it, not everyone is the same, could be the perfect size for you, if not you’ve always got 14 days to return it,

coming from an 11 Pro, it's definitely something i noticed and to be honest am disappointed by, at least when the phone's in a case. naked it's almost perfect.

coming from a se2, p much any phone's gonna feel big so you'll be okay. it's definitely not as ridiculous as the max line.

Were you able to easily use it with one hand? I forgot to mention I don’t use cases.

I think the Mini is actually smaller than the SE2, right? It would make handling the phone much easier, but the battery is the main thing I worry about the Mini.

Kinda similar situation.
But I love 12 Pro. And would like to also try on mini as it is pretty nifty. Looks cool in a way how it gives retro vibe.

honestly not really, my case still hasn’t arrived yet lol, so the whole time I was using it without a case, due to the phone being a tad wider than the 11 pro it makes it hard to use one handed.

unless you have SHAQ size hands you ain’t using the 12 one handed, you’ll need to adjust your grip to reach the top of the screen, the phone is very thin and light though, if only The screen was a bit bigger, would of been a keeper for me.

I'm glad i tried the Pro first, tbh. Even if i ended up returning it, i now know for sure that it is not my size and will enjoy the Mini even more. Otherwise i might have always wondered if the bigger one wouldn't have worked too.

That's what "reachability" is for.

You can use it with the bigger phones too, but it doesn't help you if the screen is too wide for you to reach it, since it only brings things down.

what have you been smoking bro? The 12 is .1mm wider than the 11 pro :)

Not the only one who has said you can’t use the 12 one handed, seen a whole thread about this topic.

Might be .1mm but it’s noticeable in the hand.

My experience is different - I have normal hands and I'm comfortably using a 12 Pro one handed. After an xs max, I wasn't sure if this phone would be big enough, but I'm happy with this size.

haha, .1mm ;) those people would think the 11 pro is not one handed too, there is no difference In width.

All I know is the only phone that will work for me is the 12 pro max, apple better have a reservation for a pacific blue 128gb ready for me at one of their Melbourne stores, hopefully we don’t go into another lockdown before the phone launches. 🤦‍♂️😂

doubt that, no one could survive another one, surely they can keep it under control now like Sydney.

Maybe you should take a look at the Mini. Bigger screen and longer battery life than the SE2 while being both smaller and lighter than the SE2.

What people are failing to mention is that, while the 12/Pro is barely wider than the iPhone X/XS/11 Pro, the flat edges make it feel wider. It’s harder to reach across the screen without the rounded edges.

I’m enjoying my 12 Pro, which is the same size as the 12. I’m sure the lightness of the 12 makes it slightly easier to hold.

In honesty, I’m still considering the Mini, but I was from the start. I’m not at all decided.
