I have the premium xbox 360 which outputs 1080i with component on my hdtv. The hdtv is capable of outputing 1080i maximum, not 1080p. So..would an elite with hdmi make the picture look better at 1080i or would it only help if i needed to go 1080p? THanks.

I think so, but I'm not sure... my Wii looks alot better with component them composite on 480i, so using the same logic the picture should get better, although I don't thing it will improve as much as the Wii did.

HDMI isn't nearly as much of an improvement over component and component was over HDMi.

I don't really think its worth the price of an update for you, but I'd think it should help a little.

HDMI is pure digital so there is no signal lose. On my PS3 there is a definite upgrade in picture quality when you move from component to HDMI. Is that upgrade in picture quality worth buying a brand new (and rather expensive) console? I really don't think so.
