    hey guys

Im looking for a hdtv, in 32 to 40 inch range, to buy this black friday and was wondering what kind of specs I should consider when choosing one. My primary use will be in logic sessions and sibelius (scoring) i understand that 1080p is a must for reading text (music note heads) and that 720 is crap. can anyone confirm this. I was looking at the Westinghouse 40inch 60hz 1080p hdtv from target. would this suffice. do you have any other suggestions preferably those that are less than $300?

    thanks

how close will you sit? if you are more then 8 feet you can use a 40 inch or a 42. if you are 2 or 3 feet a 32 inch is a must. 1080p will be helpful

yes 32 is max and it may or may not be sharp enough even with 1080p. also make sure it uses hdmi as a pc port. I have a 26 inch sharp tv it only uses vga as the pc port. It is a 2008 model I no longer use it with a computer. it was 720p and was not sharp(no pun intended) enough . I just use it as a bedroom tv.

I used a 40" HDTV as a monitor once, for my old Windows PC. Let me tell you, it's a very bad idea, far too big.

32" is the very maximum I would go.

The most important suggestion I can give you is that you need to make sure it supports 1:1 pixel mapping. Sometimes it'll be called "Just Scan" mode or something similar, but it's the mode/option where the display doesn't interpret the signal at all, just displays exactly what it's sent.
