hey guys, i just exported a quicktime file from final cut pro. the file came out as a HDV 720p24 file and wont play in quicktime on my mbp w/o fcp. So how can i convert this file to play on the mbp without putting fcp on it? playing from the mac pro it was created on is not an option.

Apple's HDV codec only comes w/FCP so you need to use a codec that comes as part of the standard QT package such as h.264 or sorenson 3.

what happen's when you open the quicktime file? Does it keep saying loading?

I think it's because you exported from FCP as a reference movie file and probably moved some files around.

Export again
File>export>quicktime movie

and check the box that says make self contained.

See if that works
