I've just came across this by accident. Newegg gives $17 off (with promo code EMCKEGJ32) on G.Skill 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1333mhz RAM kit. The promotion ends on June 6 (this Monday)

The total comes out to $64.99 (free shipping)

This is awesome for me, as I was planning to get the 8gb upgrade for my 2011 MBP. Grab it while you can.

Geez, I wasn't planning on spending more money on my MBP. But I just might have to. Thanks for the heads-up

I have this RAM in my MBP and use this brand in both my desktops. I like them a lot, one time I had a bad stick after 3 years and they sent me a new kit in 2 days. Their lifetime warranty is nice.

I have this kit. But it seems like I see more beach balls now. Maybe I need to reset something?

While the price is right, considering the 2011 MBP is a somewhat new design I think I'd rather play it safer and get memory from DMS (happy customer since the early 90's.)

Newegg isn't extra special for contact info, RMA's, etc. If something goes buggy, paying a bit more may save a future headache. I'm surprised these new quads, are (so far) stable. At the moment, I'm lovin' my 15"/2.2.

LOL - FAIL (on my part) I usually ignore signatures and there's the result.

Yeah, that's the exact one I have. Hope the memory is of same quality/performance as the Hynix sticks currently in my MBP. Do you notice considerable slowdown of the system though?

That may be, but these deals come and go. This deal was certainly not in place the entire 3 months.

The current ones that came with it are Samsung sticks. I just thought being double the memory it should of been faster. Not the case here. I'm really tempted to try the Kingston HyperX. But I'm not sure if it will make that much difference.

After running two geekbench mark test, one on the stock memory and one on these g.skills - I only say a point gain of about 50 points. I would think it should be higher, correct?

Well, not necessarily. The Memory is of exact same specifications (DDR3, 1333mhz) as the stock 2011 MBP RAM. It just has more capacity, which only affects the number of processes that can be run simultaneously and not how fast you can run them.

It just seems faster with 4gb. I took out the 8gb and now running 4gb.

Yah. Maybe it's some bad memory. The reviews are good, that's why I went with G. Skill. Most of the time I go with Crucial or Kingston.

I did. I'm returning them to newegg, however they want to charge me a restocking fee for a defective item? BS! I'm going to go with the Kingston Hyper X. I'm installing those today.

    G. Skill (8gb 1333) - 6023
    HyperX (8gb 1600) - 6155
