I got a laptop HDD brand new sealed from IBM. But it wont work with my computer and i want to know how to format it. basically it was new sealed in the bad then i took it out chucked it into the enclosure and tried to load it onto the PB, would register.. then i chucked it in my X DRIVE 2 (which is a portable memory card reader with a HD attached) and it started flashing the hdd error icon.

Im guessing that it just hasnt been formatted at all asits facotry fresh, THE guy i got it off says he sends back the faulty ones and they send him out totally new drives Sealed and unused.

I will be throwing it in an external enclosure and i guess it needs a FAT32 format or whatever the general one is. I just dont know how to format it iif it aint connecting to my comp or registering that its there.

Please help if you can or know how to do it.. what tools equipment i need etc...

Would it be easier throw windows XP computer (dare i say)...???

please let me know what you can..
