HELP iPhone battery replacement problem

My iPhone 3GS was crashing and black lines were on the screen. This kept repeating and go worce so I bout a new battery and it said it was charging when your batterys dead. I left it on the charger for 2 hours and showed the same thing I don't know what to do. Help!!!:confused:

I would try and restore your iPhone. If that doesn't work, make an appointment at the genius bar at your local Apple Store and see if they can help you. I see you're in Philly so that should be no problem.
