Hey all, if your in Australia, here's what you pay for the pleasure of owning a new iPhone:-

    16GB - $799 (US$199) approx. 4 x more expensive
    32GB - $899 (US$299) approx. 3 x more expensive
    64GB - $999 (US$399) approx. 2.5 x more expensive

Given the exchange rate parity, what am I missing here? "It's just the market you're in!" doesn't seem to justify this rapacious difference. It's time to say enough is enough!

My son is holidaying in the US at the moment. Does anyone wiser than me know, if he bought one for me in the US, would it work 'no problems' in Australia? OR is there something uniquely different about phones for the Australian market that justify the price difference?
Gratefully accepting your advice and comments.

Offhand I would say you are not paying a subsidized price

The US prices you are quoting are with a 2 year contract on the provider
