So I'm registered and active as a voter in a different county. I want to vote in my current residential county, but I'm afraid it's too late. What do I do? Go vote in the other county? I can easily drive there, but I wanted to participate in local voting for my county. I'm bummed.

Go vote in the county where you're registered.

As far as I know, once you've changed residence, you need to re-register (at least that's how I've always done it).

Re-register and vote in the county you are currently residing in.

It's probably too late though now.

    Doh! You're probably right.

California, for instance, requires you register 15 days prior.

I'd check with your state to see what the rules are.

yep every state is different. Texas is 30 days.

I am/have intentionally sitting on moving my voter regestration from my parents to where I am now because 1 I am afraid the state will screw it up this close and 2 my vote matters for congress for once. It is a competitive district. I now wish more states would follow CA lead and have the top 2 from the primary go to general because then your vote would really matter more all over the state instead of it being decide in the primaries where only the extreme ends of the parties really vote.

This system has some bizarre unintended consequences, and I don't favor it.
Don't ask me to explain, I don't have the time.

Well for me the fact that I did not move it is if you look at the time I moved in end of july and did not really get settled in until like mid August. So I had like a 2 week window deal with the paper work to do it. 2 weeks that I had more important stuff to take care of so I sat on it until after the election. I am not going to not vote in this election so just going to wait until like dec and while I am at it deal with getting my DL renewed.
