    Hi everybody,

2 weeks or so ago my iMac made noise the first time.
I did reset the smc 10 times or so, but it didn't work!
I did use an smc fan controller, but that couldn't be the problem, because it doesn't install anything that runs on the background.
I deleted it, and it still running at full speed: 4790 rpm.
I already posted a thread about this, but the answers there didn't really help a lot.

    Thanks,

    Ruben

What model is your optical drive?

Apple Menu (Top Left) --> About this Mac --> More info --> Disc Burning

Have you inserted a DVD-R recently?

    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-875:

    Firmware Revision: DB09
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

And I think I did insert a dvd -R recently, but should that be a problem
