Hello,

I've been doing a bit of research on my potential setup of a Macbook Pro 15 inch Late 2011, a xbox 360, and an external monitor. Unfortunately, I haven't uncovered anything quite useful which pertains to my situation. As such, if you have experience on the matter, I would be eternally grateful.

Desired Setup

Xbox 360 Slim, Macbook Pro, and External Monitor (I haven't purchased one yet).

I would ideally like to have the external monitor function as both an extension of my Macbook pro (Using both that screen and the MBP screen) and to play my xbox on (Being able to have cable connected to the monitor would be a huge plus). I'm looking at a 22inch+ hi definition monitor - any recommendations? Ideally, my computer speakers will be able to be used for the xbox as well.

As for budget, I'd like to keep things as low as possible without breaking the bank (Would it be possible to keep it under $300?).

What would be the best way to set this up? Can this all be done with HDMI?

Is there a more optimal way to go about this? Also, it's probably better that I haven't bought a monitor yet - any recs on this would be great. I have a Macbook Pro Hi-Res 1680 x 1050 - Im not sure how this applies to a monitor extension.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.
