Good morning. I currently have an iphone 6 with verizon under contract. I was told the phone is unlocked directly from a verizon rep. However I found someone who is willing to trade me his 6+ that is on AT&T for mine but he told me it will not work on verizon, is this true? Im basically looking to trade my verizon 6 for a 6+ but im unsure what to look for. Thanks so much

VZW's phones come out of the box unlocked due to an agreement with the government when VZW was allowed to purchase spectrum from the government.

ATT is under no such compulsion and so their phones are not unlocked. The other individual can request an unlocked provided he's not under contract, i.e., ATT won't unlock an a subsidized phone.

That stinks

Thank you for that info, if anything my phone should have a tad more value since almost all carriers can use it. However If i do come across a 6+ for trade I need to make sure its a verizon one?
