I'm currently looking at getting an Apple Watch Hermès. Now, I'm pretty sure I want the Space Black Stainless Steel, but that really narrows the choice for bands. My question is that is the SBSS that much different from the regular stainless steel, or should I just get the regular SS so I can get the Deployment Buckle Band (which Apple's site doesn't seem to let me select with SB)?

I have the SS Balck series 5 watch. My wife has the SS Silver. We never have an issue with choosing bands. Every band looks good with either watch. Only my opinion though. Which is more important to you. Black watch or the color of band you like is what I'd be asking myself.

I usually prefer a black band and a black watch. But I was just wanting to know if the difference between SBSS and SS is that big that it's worth giving up the Deployment Buckle.

The space black finish is more resistant to micro abrasions/scuffs compared to the bare SS. If you look at used ones on eBay/swappa it’s pretty evident. However, I wouldn’t consider that a knock against the bare SS model. It looks great and you can keep it looking good with polishing cloths. I personally own a SBSS, but am thinking of bare SS for my next purchase.
