Wait for an update to sim city. Right now there are too many bugs and Mass transportation doesnt even work AT ALL!
    Don't buy sim city yet.

Hero of sparta is O.K., but I haven't actually played it that much yet.

And I haven't played brothers in arms.

Rolando is a $9.99 game and it is pretty fun.

SimCity, despite it's bugginess. I've got Hero of Sparta and Brothers in Arms, both are alright, but they've got little replay value. At least you can start new cities and try different things out in SimCity when you reach an impassable bug (mine crashes at about October 2005, city starts in something like 1900). I'm sure an update is on the way.

haha, ive got all 4 of those u guys are talking about.

in reality theyre all good games for their genre. so you just need to decided what genre your looking for....

but yes, sim city is a bit buggy right now... but certainly not unplayable.

I also have Hero and Brothers but not Sim City... My thoughts:

    - Hero is blissful but fairly short. Three to five hours, and it was fun to play through twice (once normally and once in heroic mode) but that's it.

    - Brothers in Arms is a bit longer (haven't finished it yet). This game is also beautiful, well thought out, with lots of missions, but it's kind of make or break with how well you adapt to the control scheme. Some people find it completely natural, and others can't stand it. I find it moderately frustrating, leading to times when I die merely because I can't turn around quickly enough or I'm stuck moving in the wrong direction. As of 1.0.3, it does still have some bugs that lead to things like your character being stuck and unable to move for no reason, etc. But it is a deeper and longer game, it seems to me, than Hero of Sparta. Overall, I'm quite pleased with it in spite of its limitations.

    - Sim City is what it is. Issues of crashing and bugs aside, I think it all boils down to how many iterations of it you have already played and whether you'd get any joy out of playing it some more. It's probably the most sophisticated, deep game on the iPhone, but it still all depends on how familiar it is to you. If you feel like you'd play it, it's probably a good buy. For me, I've had a lifetime of Sim City already and I don't think I'd play it again unless there's a new iteration of the franchise that's a lot different.

it is in fact, quite buggy. and some missing features. i think if sim city did fix those, it would be the defacto (ho hum) current game to go on about.

You should have added rolando as an option, and that's what I'm saying you should get. I have brothers in arms, sim city, and rolando. Sim city is great aside from the bugs which can be fixed, and has the advantage of almost unlimited replayability. But it's not something a new player can enjoy right away, because it's really hard. Also it may not even appeal to you, because it's a slightly niche market, for serious city strategists.

Brothers in arms is great, but none of the three control schemes work perfectly. I'm ok with one of them, but none of them agree with me 100%. It's much better on the DS.

Rolando is great no matter how you look at it. The controls are simple, easy, and work. There are plenty of levels. The levels are hard enough that you probably won't get all the jems/get the target time the first time, so you'll go back to try and get those bonuses. The levels are great. Finally, the titlescreen itself is apparentely a level as you unlock more of it by playing the game.

What bug are you referring to?

They did improve the stability issue. People are complaining about the transportation: the rails work fine as long as there's at least three stations connected, the roads for me work fine as well (zones should be within less than 3 blocks away)

unfortunately, the simcity tutorial is very quick and does not give any useful information: other than the basest of streets, electricity and water zoning. however, if you have not played it is helpful enough to get you barely going, just not enought to show you how to play.

love the game: just need stability

Oh I'm sorry for the confusion, blocks, squares, they're the same :p

So far the transportation complaint that I keep on getting was traffic, because of that ordinance I passed to get more revenue.

Rolando is a really fun. Seems childish and easy at first, but it actually makes you think.

Yea I have to agree, it does take a while to understand the controls but I still can't figure out why they choose the jeep driving controls.

I have Sim City and I'm so confused, I got so far in debt I don't know what to do but maybe I have to keep playing it more.

Right now I'm playing BiA the most.

Yes, but is very short. In my opinion it didn't show that much just how to make roads, zones, and water/power.

Don't even get me started on the jeep controls!

I'm stuck on the level... I think Cloud Dagger? Where most of the chapter is about setting smoke screen signals for air support and setting explosive charges on missiles and things like that. I'm actually not stuck on an infernal jeep sequence, but I'm stuck at this part where we get ambushed by a Panzer group... the directions are totally jacked up, and I keep dying from random fire. At the part where I die, there's a Panzer sitting 20m away from the place where it tells me I'm supposed to stand, with its gun pointed straight at the place where I'm supposed to stand. Erm... yeah, that sounds perfect.

But it is a fun game nonetheless. :)
