it's a very good read.
You know, it's common for liberals like me to make fun of the Pentagon, but in the Bush administration we've seen repeatedly that the Pentagon is one of the only places where sanity still prevails. The Pentagon tries to tell Congress it doesn't need expensive, ineffective weapons (which Congress buys anyway); the Pentagon tries to tell Bush that a war with Iraq is ill-advised; the Pentagon tries to tell Bush that you can't just bully Iran and expect them to collapse in fear.
Nobody listens. I don't think they're just crooked, I think this may also be the flat-out dumbest administration we've ever seen.
We have to remember that direct and "indirect" support from those who
profit from military industrial and security contracts has quite a bit of influence on what happens in congress.
Congress and the OMB determine who gets funding for what.
There are some individuals and groups who will stop at nothing to justify
their existence. That is pretty much the name of the game.
I find it interesting that the NSA's budget is classified.
How can our elected officials determine the worthiness
of certain programs without knowing what that money is being spent for?
What about other black budgets that are classified?
The only reason a budget would be classified is not to protect national security, but that disclosure of that total budget amount would be politically
sensitive to greater scrutiny by the taxpayers.
A thorough analysis. What would happen to the democratic process if Bush launched an attack near the end of his term?
Of course leave an absolute disaster in your wake that takes at least two
adminstrative terms to get back to normal then blame the Democrats for the
I mean, would there even be an election?
i'm certain all kinds of "special circumstances" have been gamed.
Oh you're referring to the old Marshall Law plan where our country would be too vulnerable to allow a change of leadership.
Considering all they've done so far, I wouldn't put it past them to try it.
All we need is another CREATED event.
Please forgive the correction, but it's martial law.
I only mention it because it's a mistake commonly seen around the internet, and I wish this Marshall guy would go away.
I was wondering if it was related to the Marshall Plan.
Oops thanks, my bad.
I'd like to see them try. Especially based on how unpopular they are right now. Of course, if they did, there isn't much we could do about it. Some of us are pretty heavily armed though, so I don't think they would. Nowadays you never know.
The WH should listen to the Pentagon and CIA for once (never thought I'd say that), but I doubt they will. Why would they start now. They'd rather just continue to screw things up and call it progress.
This administration reminds me of some new upwardly mobile manager at work that decides to improve productivity thus screwing up everything so bad
that it takes the entire staff 4 years to undo the problems he created.
He moves up the ladder of success while everyone else suffers in his wake.
If Bush were running a corporation it would be bankrupt and OSHA would shut him down for safety violations.
Remember, Bush did run at least one company (Arbusto) into the ground. There may've been more.
Then there's the state of Texas....
Where is Mr. Spacely when we need him the most?
