so I am guessing they figured the 12 year BS spouted by AOC and other clowns was too close, it's now 30 years.
how many carbon credits do we need to offset this again?

You argue fine details of a problem so massive it's difficult to comprehend.

Or if 800,000 years is too much; let's look at the past 30+ years (within our lifetimes I'm assuming)

But you know denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

While there's an absolute overuse of hyperbole regarding the climate change discussion,

Hyperbole usage doesn't negate the scientific evidence that we have done some massive harm and changes to the earth's climate. Trying to pass off climate change science as irrelevant or non-existent cause of the overuse of hyperbole is just as silly / stupid as the over abuse of hyperbole.

And that Meme Solver shows that the artist is a complete and utter moron with absolutely zero actual understanding of the concept of what is Climate versus what is weather.

Without even being able to understand those basic differences, the author of that poor cartoon is not making a statement about climate change, but making a statement about his own ignorance.

Climate and Weather are two completely different things.

I wonder at what point the CO2 increases will start to have physiological effects on humans.

No, They are not. And pretending otherwise is just disingenuous or downright ignorant to the facts. And just because you don't understand, or believe in manmade climate change doesn't mean that it is not affecting things.

Can we outright claim mankind is dooooooomed? Nah. Hyperbole.

But we have outright evidence that the warming by only a few decimal points has directly lead to more inconsistent and violent weather patterns.

Some here seem not to understand feed-forward loops and tipping points.

EDIT: The report is about strains on society becoming so bad from the climate impacts of CO2 that society will break down, not human extinction. Still society breaking down would be bad.

Assuming this is all true, what can legitimately be done about it? The green new deal isn't a reasonable approach. What can actually be done to help stop/slow this.

Well for starters it wants to replace or retrofit every single building in the United States... Which is bananas. Then theres the free healthcare and guaranteed income for those unwilling to work... And if you didn't think that was wild we also need to eliminate farting cows.

Regardless of people's views on climate change, I think it's doubtful that human civilization will come to an end.

The only way that I see the end of human civilization occurring is the total destruction of Earth (hit by a planetoid) or by a 100% lethal virus with no immunity or cure.

Humans are somewhat like cockroaches in that they find a way to survive.

I'll know that the end is near when some of the people posting change their mind and start supporting Trump :).

The problem is isn't about "Sides".

Simple fact of the matter is that profits for bsinesses are higher using older technologies that require less investment and R&D. therefore, from a free market standpoint, there's no incentive for businesses to care about the environmental concerns. There's no pure "dollar cost" on the damage we're doing to the environment either.

I don't like taxes, but i'm not entirely sure an alternative. in Ontario. we had a Cap and Trade program, that was pretty much a way to give carbon pricing a fixed, but marketable and tradable costs, but the current Ontario conservatives in power scrapped it, resulting in a tax instead.

The question then posing to "your side". what efforts do you believe should be considered to help reducing the impact of our carbon usage and footprint given that a pure free market will not and refuses to adjust on it's own.

    Why is that “bananas”?

Every building in the U.K. built before ~2006 will need to be modified as well. Most of those modifications are doing stuff like putting in cavity wall insulation, better loft insulation and putting down improved underlay under the floor. Those changes save money in the long term already - any property improvements that pay for themselves over 12-15 years are already worth doing as you can extend your mortgage to cover the cost of them.

Solid wall insulation - which is more difficult and needs doing on buildings without cavity wall insulation is also worth doing on cost grounds.

With the best quality materials solid wall insulation will reduce energy losses by ~85% and will reduce the floor area of a 5x5 metre room with two walls that need it by ~2.8%. Not great but not world ending.
