    Presidential candidate

Woodhull announces her candidacy for President by writing a letter to the editor of the New York Herald on April 2, 1870.[28]

Woodhull was nominated for President of the United States by the newly formed Equal Rights Party on May 10, 1872, at Apollo Hall, New York City. A year earlier, she had announced her intention to run. Also in 1871, she spoke publicly against the government being composed only of men; she proposed developing a new constitution and a new government a year thence.[29] Her nomination was ratified at the convention on June 6, 1872. They nominated the former slave and abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass for Vice President. He did not attend the convention and never acknowledged the nomination. He served as a presidential elector in the United States Electoral College for the State of New York. This made her the first woman candidate.

You are seriously posting this to demonstrate a Clinton lie?

Personally, I believe she lies almost all of the time... but this is just silly.

I believe the claim has been that she is the first woman from a major party. I suspect that there have been a fair number (many?) of women nominated before Hillary, minorities before Obama, etc. Joseph Smith was a nominee, beating Romney to the punch, and I'm sure Sanders wouldn't have been the first Jew.

Hillary is a bad, bad candidate and I detest her. But, harangue her for actual faults, not over someone's misunderstanding.

There's always a disclaimer/fine print in something to do with the Clinton's that the prestitutes pimping them fall back on...

If we wanted to be technical, she's not even the first woman nominated for President this year (Jill Stein). Obviously though, everyone is referring to Hillary as the first female nominee for a major party.

How is it a disclaimer if the original quote wasn't said, or has no relevance? Is she the first woman nominated for a major party, or not?

"I built the biggest house on this street!!"
"There's a bigger house three streets over"
    "Right...I said on this street."
"Oh, now you're just using disclaimers!!!"

It's always amusing when someone accuses someone of lying with a fib of their own. Why do you mislead? At no time has Hillary ever said that she was the first women ever nominated. She is however the first women nominated in either of the two major viable political parties. I'm pretty sure she also holds the record for most votes for a women by millions of voters too. I believe she may have just now become the first women to receive an endorsement from a current sitting President as well. But I'll have to double check on that one.

Hillary did specify major party nominee in her speech, she's still a horrible person.

Not that I am a fan of Hillary, but everything I have read and heard did say "major" party. Kind of hard to say it is her lie as well.

Donald Trump isn't the first racist to be nominated.

This isn't first inane thread to be posted in PRSI.

Neither of these statements can be argued with.

The first woman from a major[ity] party; the previous women from minor[ity] parties are “lesser.”

Most of the threads that purport to discuss HRC are.

What these guys (and gals) fail to realise is that less is more.

If their perfervid verbal assaults were less deranged in tone, and somewhat less all embracing by topic, and sightly more carefully focussed with a somewhat less splenetic tone, they might actually pique somebody's interest.
